last date on the mission '92 tour. well, officially this wasn't on the tour flyer, but this was an extra date added to finish the tour off. during the after party to this gig, an ambient set was played by lx-p, and there were people wandering around with klf robes on....also there was a free bar!
anyway, here's another soundboard recording.

probably last one for tonight, doubtless more tomorrow.

(i've jumped to 1993 suddenly, as i want to mix things up a bit. i'll upload the other 1992 recordings at some other time, don't worry. i'm a completist so i'll be uploading every recording i have, regardless of quality or length...i'll make a note if the quality's a bit shite though.)

this one's a definite keeper. it contains the only known live recording of "hidden in heaven", which went on to become "orbert" and then "ffwd>>". "hidden in heaven" has been written about here, so here's the recording...

anyway, i digress, the whole recording is another excellent soundboard, so take a listen!

this is the best 1992 recording that i've found. such high quality and a complete recording, it's one that i play regularly.

the orb - a huge ever growing... 7" demo

evenin' all,

right, time for a demo, something i've never uploaded anywhere.
it's a mysterious cassette, from about 1989, containing various 7" versions of lovin u.

i do not own this cassette, by the way.
the cassette looks like this:

...and it contains four mixes.

unfortunately, i reckon the person who transferred the tape to mp3 has used a horrible dehissing program, which has reduced the quality, but it shouldn't detract from the recording too much.

the legendary 1992 glasto performance. many stories have been told about this one, from people hearing the pulsating sounds of the orb from miles away, to being in the crowd amongst the klf robes...
compiled from the "dipping into the cyberworld" bootleg, and an unknown source for the huge ever growing thingy.

evening folks,
i'm missing out the final 1991 date cos i'll stick it in later. it's a bit heavy going having 4 near-identical recordings back-to-back, so i'll upload that one another time...
anyway, this is a curious one, mainly because i've been unable to date it or even find a location. it was just labelled on the dat as "mission '92 europe", which was the name of their october/november 1992 tour...
so....if anyone has any details on this, please let me know!!

ok, might as well stick this one up too.
another early orb recording, possibly soundboard but probably a good audience recording, also transferred from dat to cassette to 256kbps mp3. contains a full version of "earth (gaia)", which was only played on some dates in 1991 (only the flash gordon "the inhabitants refer to it as the planet...earth" intro was played before "towers of dub" in later years).
quality is ok, just play it loud!

hello again,
last one for tonight, more tomorrow.
this is the earliest dated recording that i've found. it's a soundboard recording, transferred from dat to tdk90 to 256kbps mp3.
the last three tracks are not live, they are clearly added onto the tape afterwards. it turns out that this exact tape was supposedly used for the "pulsating sounds of orb" bootleg, down to the inclusion of the orbital dance mix of lovin' u after the live recording.

the orb - cambridge, 1991

well hello there,
let's start at the beginning.
one of the first orb live performances, back in 1991. the exact date and location is unknown, but it's probably in may 1991, definitely somewhere in cambridge, from the same tour as "patterns & textures".
this is a soundboard recording, transferred from tdk90 to 256kbps mp3. the treble cuts out significantly during the first half of lfc, but don't worry fellow orbistas, it comes back.
so...sorry about the kinda low fidelity, but it's not bad considering the age, and it's one of the best quality 1991 recordings that i've found.

hello and welcome

hi there,
this is just a blog where i'll be posting live recordings from all sorts of bands, mainly the orb (due to popular demand), but also whatever i feel like. you'll get the idea after a few weeks.
hopefully i can update this as regularly as possible, because i have a lot of recordings to get through, so keep checking this thing regularly!
if any person objects to any material posted, whether due to copyright reasons or because i'm posting their flac recording as an mp3, feel free to e-mail me. i'm merely posting the stuff here because i enjoy listening to it, and i'm sure others will too, and i'm not a dimeadozen analite.
